Joel Karni Schmidt and Maria Scungio will speak at the 2024 Intellectual Property Law & Policy Conference at Fordham Law School
Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman attorneys Joel Karni Schmidt and Maria Scungio will speak at the 31st Annual Intellectual Property Law & Policy Conference at Fordham Law School (the "Fordham IP Conference"), which takes place on April 4-5. Joel will give a presentation on the topic of "Copyright Protection for 3D Designs in the U.S." His presentation will delve into the legal nuances surrounding copyright protection for three-dimensional designs in the U.S.
Maria will give a presentation on the topic of "Lookalikes: Secondary Meaning, Copyist Intent & Something Extra." Her presentation will, among other things, examine recent trade dress infringement decisions, highlighting courts’ differing treatment of evidence of copying, in the context of secondary meaning. Maria will also moderate a panel discussion about trademark enforcement.
This will be the 31st Annual Fordham IP Conference, known as the “Davos of IP.” The Fordham IP Conference has offered an important forum for leaders in government, the judiciary, academia, and the private sector around the world to meet, discuss and resolve current intellectual property issues.
